Walker was originally what we were aiming for, but I changed my mind (much to Michael's chagrin) because I want to use my dear dad's middle name as our son's middle name and "Walker" doesn't flow very well with the middle name we are using... So, we searched and debated and FINALLY last Sunday over our "3 courses, 2 people, $20" lunch at Chili's we decided that this child shall be called -
EVAN BARTOW RAND
Thank God! We have a name!! I can monogram things!!!
I love my husband, but if it were up to him, and I didn't bug the hell out of him, this child would have been "Baby Boy Rand" until he went to college... Michael is überpicky about names and I can understand that. There are so many factors that go into naming a child - particularly a boy. Does his name sound good as a child and an adult (hopefully a successful CEO of a Fortune 500 company)? Will he be made fun of on the playground? Do his initials spell something unfortunate, like ZIT or BMW? Can people shorten his name even if he doesn't want them to? Poor Michael has been called "Mike" so many times in life, and though he doesn't mind it really, I think he would prefer Michael...
So, there you have it and it's one more thing I can cross off of my baby "to-do list." PHEW!
